The Benefits of Acupuncture

Meridians lines are pathways in the body where vital energy “qi” flows. These channels of energy are encompassed within the body circulating from the top our heads all the way down to our toes. The meridian pathways help supply, sustain and provide strength to the tissues for growth, health and life. An interference in the flow of the meridian line bottles up, blocks and restricts healthy flow within our bodies, thus leading to various ailments and diseases. Acupuncture needles are inserted in the meridian pathway at the site of the blockage. The needles are then stimulated at precise points which removes the obstruction and restores its flow progression throughout the meridians lines. This type of procedure is utilized for treatment as well as for maintenance of the body’s internal organs to regain constitution and facilitate assimilation, consumption, and effective exertion. Acupuncture is utilized to promote the progress in the effective current flow through the meridians lines. Today, methodical interpretation confirms the encouragement of acupuncture points to invigorate the nervous system, in which chemicals are liberated in the muscles, spinal cord and brain. These chemicals do one of two things, 1)alter the way the pain is handled or 2)activate other chemicals and hormones which drive the body to regulate the system internally. The increased liveliness and biochemical equality contributed by acupuncture helps develop invigoration of our own body capability to regenerate and contribute to our well-being from head to toe and from the inside out.

What the Science Says About the Effectiveness of Acupuncture

Results from a number of studies suggest that acupuncture may help ease types of pain that are often chronic such as low-back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis/knee pain. It also may help reduce the frequency of tension headaches and prevent migraine headaches. Therefore, acupuncture appears to be a reasonable option for people with chronic pain to consider. However, clinical practice guidelines are inconsistent in recommendations about acupuncture.

The effects of acupuncture on the brain and body and how best to measure them are only beginning to be understood. Current evidence suggests that many factors—like expectation and belief—that are unrelated to acupuncture needling may play important roles in the beneficial effects of acupuncture on pain.

Acupuncture is FDA approved!-- Safe and Effective

Acupuncture is a part of natural medicine and an effective treatment method for many illnesses. It is FDA approved – both safe and effective, and is not associated with negative side effects. Acupuncture does not require the use of harmful drugs or x-rays, painful surgeries or other irreversible operations. It is a safe technique that allows the body to heal itself naturally. Acupuncture actually promotes your body’s ability to function by inserting hair thin needles through the skin at specific acupuncture points. Heat and/or electric stimulation may also added to encourage the healing process. Youcan have peace of mind in knowing that acupuncture is non invasive and painless. It treats a wide range of illnesses from moderate cases to the very difficult and is an excellent avenue to help patients promote, maintain and restore health based upon the principles of natural medicine.

Principles of Holistic Medicine

Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person -- body, mind, spirit, and emotions -- in the quest for optimal health and wellness. According to the holistic medicine philosophy, one can achieve optimal health -- the primary goal of holistic medicine practice -- by gaining proper balance in life.

Holistic medicine practitioners believe that the whole person is made up of interdependent parts and if one part is not working properly, all the other parts will be affected. In this way, if people have imbalances (physical, emotional, or spiritual) in their lives, it can negatively affect their overall health.

A holistic doctor may use all forms of health care, from conventional medication to alternative therapies, to treat a patient. For example, when a person suffering from migraine headaches pays a visit to a holistic doctor, instead of walking out solely with medications, the doctor will likely take a look at all the potential factors that may be causing the person's headaches, such as other health problems, diet and sleep habits, stress and personal problems, and preferred spiritual practices. The treatment plan may involve drugs to relieve symptoms, but also lifestyle modifications to help prevent the headaches from recurring.

What is cupping?

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. For weight loss and cellulite treatments -Cupping is one of the best deep-tissue therapies available. It is thought to affect tissues up to four inches deep from the external skin. Toxins can be released, blockages can be cleared, and veins and arteries can be refreshed within these four inches of affected materials. Even hands, wrists, legs, and ankles can be 'cupped,' thus applying the healing to specific organs that correlate with these points.

The Cupping is also valuable for the lungs, and can clear congestion from a common cold or help to control a person's asthma. In fact, respiratory conditions are one of the most common maladies that cupping is used to relieve. Three thousand years ago, in the earliest Chinese documentation of cupping, it was recommended for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
